I am thrilled and honored to serve as your Bexar County Medical Society Alliance President in 2008. In 1917, soon-to-be Alliance President, Mrs. Frank Paschel, Sr. and her board met at the Menger Hotel to form a medical alliance (then know as an "auxiliary) in this city. Their focus was to create fellowship among the families of physicians and to foster activities in "benevolent, philanthropic, charitable, and patriotic endeavors." Today, the Alliance continues to focus on these same themes. The 2008 Alliance member is either male or female. The 2008 Alliance member contacts US Congressmen and Senators when doctors are in jeopardy. Yes, the 2008 Alliance makes a difference in San Antonio and our medical community. The Alliance is funded entirely by membership dues. Therefore, we need YOU and YOU and yes, even YOU to contribute to our important role in the Alamo City. New membership information and forms are available on our website at http://www.bcmsalliance.org. Our aiml this year is to reach over 500 members. With your help, I know that we can attain this goal. Lastly, I would not be the Alliance president if I had not married a doctor. My husband, Dr. Jay Ellis, is not only the love of my life, he is a passionate, caring doctor. If he were my doctor, I know that I would be in good hands. So, join the Alliance today and help us carry out the goals that Mrs. Frank Paschel, Sr. and her board formulated in 1917.Sincerely, Merrill Merrill Ellis |
